CPRIT-CURE Summer Undergraduate Program

The Cancer Prevention & Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT)-CURE Summer Undergraduate Research program is a ten-week research program designed for outstanding undergraduate students who are interested in pursuing a career in cancer research.
Who should apply?
College or university students in good academic standing within their freshman, sophomore or junior year.
Why CPRIT/CURE?
In-depth hands-on laboratory experience in cancer research with prominent MD Anderson faculty members.
When is the program?
June 6, 2017 to August 11, 2017
This program is aimed at highly motivated students who are interested in a research career (i.e., future Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D.). The program provides an interactive and fulfilling laboratory-based research experience with prestigious mentors at MD Anderson. Students will be given hands-on research training in cutting-edge labs, where they will interact daily with faculty, postdoctoral fellows and graduate students. Students will attend scientific lectures, seminars and career development events, and will have the opportunity to present their work at a poster session at the end of the ten-week program.
Students cannot earn credit from their home institutions for participating in the CPRIT-CURE Summer Program.
When is the application deadline?
The online application will be active from December 1, 2016 to January 19, 2017.
Stipend
Students will receive a stipend up to $5,000 ($500 per full week worked) for the ten-week program. The stipend may change depending upon the actual days worked in a week. Housing will be paid by the students from these funds. Paychecks will be issued on the 5th and the 20th of each month, deducting the required federal tax.
CPRIT-CURE Faculty Mentors
CPRIT scholar faculty mentors serve as direct supervisors for CPRIT scholars or as co-mentors on advisory committees. CPRIT faculty mentors participate in all aspects of the CPRIT training program, including formal instruction and supervision of research.
