University of Delaware Bridge to the Doctorate

The University of Delaware, as a representative of the Greater Philadelphia Region Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (Philadelphia AMP),  is seeking applicants for its NSF LSAMP Bridge to the Doctorate (Cohort XIV) Program slated for launch in August 2016, contingent upon NSF funding. This fellowship is designed to establish a bridge to the terminal degree – the Ph.D. – by providing students with the financial support needed to successfully pursue graduate study, as well as with mentorship, guidance and a support network dedicated to the promotion of future leadership in the scientific enterprise.

Bridge to the Doctorate Program Benefits:

  • Tuition and fees paid and enrollment in a health insurance benefit program
  • Student stipends of $32,000 annually for two years

Eligibility Requirements

  • US Citizenship or Permanent Residency
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 OR Institutional recommendation
  • Active participation in a national LSAMP Program as an undergraduate
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline from a LSAMP Institution
  • No prior graduate school matriculation
  • GRE test scores or intention of taking GRE in the first year of study

  • Admissible to a NSF-eligible graduate STEM discipline of study at the University of Delaware*

  • The application fee is $75.00. Waivers will be granted by the central admissions office if the applicant is a Bridge to the Doctorate (BTD) aspirant
  • You must indicate that you are applying for the program by checking the “Bridge to the Doctorate (BTD) button” on the application (find the button under Additional Information in the sub-category Program Association)
  • Applicants should enter the Promo Code “BTD2016” as prompted on the application
  • Application must be submitted for fall 2016

Applicants to the program are evaluated on their undergraduate record including professional performance and research experiences. The successful applicant will pursue a M.S or Ph.D. degree in a STEM discipline. Applications will be accepted through August 15, 2016.  Fellowships will be awarded on a rolling basis, contingent upon NSF funding.
