The AECOM Urban SOS competition is an opportunity for students of design, architecture, landscape architecture, urban design, planning, engineering and related disciplines to test their skills, address real-world challenges, and practice collaborative problem-solving.
AECOM’s fourth annual student competition seeks integrated design, planning, environmental restoration and engineering responses that address border, gateway and edge or fringe conditions in cities worldwide.
Urban SOS: Frontiers is open to students enrolled in undergraduate and graduate fields of study worldwide. Submissions should present a feasible response to an urban site currently facing chronic livability challenges that relate to a physical, political, cultural or economic border.
Prize: At stake is a US$15,000 cash prize along with US$25,000 grant to charitable organization to help see the winning scheme implemented.
Finalists: Finalists will travel to Shanghai to present their submissions to a panel of judges.
Teams: Students may compete as individuals or in teams of up to four.
